The Perpendicular Poetry Prize

In 2024, poet, journalist and general gadabout Clive Gresswell sadly passed away.

Clive was a passionate innovative poet, and a great believer in bringing poetry and its tools for self-expression to a wider audience.

In his memory, his friends and family have started the Perpendicular Poetry Prize, a creative competition which seeks to encourage bold new forms of poetry from unexpected quarters, rewarding unsung talent and promoting both new and experienced voices.

1st prize (adult competition): £200

1st prize (junior competition): £50 (vouchers)*

The prize is judged by a panel of poets and peers, who reserve the right to choose the winner according to their own strict and mysterious set of absurdist criteria.

For the winning entry, there may also be an award.
